Who would have thought an attic could be transformed into a modern flat and work studio? Check out this project for more details.
Having a house with an attic is definitely an advantage. For some people, this unfinished part of a house could mean a dark and creepy place or spider’s nest. At least, most people will use attic only for storing unused stuff. But for those who dare to step a challenge, attic is great space addition in the house.
This is just a perfect example of attic makeover that adds more value and functions. The project took place in a multi-family house in the Old Grunwald district, Poland. The idea was to transform the attic into a modern and functional flat and work studio.
The attic was characterized by different heights of the ceiling. Some are high and some very low. Places where the ceiling is low were transformed into a bedroom area. And those with high ceiling became a workspace, a kitchen, and a dining room. It’s simply a brilliant transformation of the attic into space-efficient, functional rooms.
It’s also worth to mention that the well preserved beautiful wooden floor is a great asset to start with. All it takes was a good polish, and the wooden floor defines the living area for daily activities. The only addition they did to the floor was a brick platform that defines the sleeping area.
All rooms are multifunctional. For instance, the bedroom is actually an open space that doubles as a workspace with only a curtain as a flexible room divider. This is not only space-efficient but also cost-efficient. On top of that, every room enables view through the whole attic.
When it comes to interior design, working with a narrow space is always a challenge. In this project, they brilliantly pulled it off with minimalist style and pick white as the dominant color, for the ceiling, walls, curtains, and even the fabric room divider.
There are a lot of things that can be achieved by remodeling the rumor-said ghostly attic. Besides making additional space, remodeling the attic can also add value to the house. This project is proof.
